EduGeek.netSeating PlansFri, 17 Apr 2026 14:44:42 +0000 Hi all, Does anyone have any good free / open source seating plan software they use? Currently we use Edulink but moving to iSAMS we will lose this functionality. Have seen ClassCharts has this, but you need to buy the full package. Is there any other cheaper alternatives out there? WIthout going into details of behaviour etc, consistency and having the clocks being correct is importtant so before they've gone and bough 100 or so standard clocks I recommended RCC ones, albeit being more expensive. Can't do anything crazy invasive or overkill like PoE, so thinking RCC battery analogue clock faces is the way to go unless there's a more modern solution? I believe the RCC mast etc is still like and isn't looking to be phased out like RDS etc? Office 365 Email Spam AggressionFri, 17 Apr 2026 11:23:06 +0000 Afternoon all, Has anyone noticed an increase in Office 365 spam email activity over the last few weeks? They should, in my opinion, have a dedicated photo printer for this purpose. Had reasonably good experiences previously with the Canon Pixma range, but also quite like the Epson Ecotank systems too. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality photo printer and decent running costs? Absolutely no HP subscription tripe! Networked preferable. I don't know what the quality is like on the Ecotanks, I've only used them so far for dye-sub printing. Prevent viewing network information at sign onThu, 16 Apr 2026 19:46:41 +0000 Im trying to find a way to prevent students from viewing network information at the sign on screen. The information when you click the clock at the bottom of the sign on screen is what I'm talking about. This information is blocked AFTER sign on but I also need it blocked at the sign on screen. I've search for the setting in Google workspace but cant find what I'm looking for. Thanks. Street FighterThu, 16 Apr 2026 16:30:25 +0000 How to properly export live settings in GPO applied to a machineThu, 16 Apr 2026 15:41:44 +0000 Hi, I needed to get which of the following settings, and with which values, are applied live on a server. The needed settings are : SeInteractiveLogonRight SeRemoteInteractiveLogonRight SeDenyInteractiveLogonright SeDenyRemoteInteractiveLogonRight It seems I'm achieving it by doing : Secedit /Export /Areas User_Rights /cfgSecedit /Export /Areas User_Rights /cfg c:\undirectorio\gpo.txt Later by checking the file I achieve my goal. I normally check too this other command file generated : Secedit /Export /Areas SECURITYPOLICY /cfg Secedit /Export /Areas SECURITYPOLICY /cfg c:\undirectorio\gpo.txt They seem to give me what I need even when for instance "SeDenyInteractiveLogonright" is set in the local gpo and set too in a gpo applied to the OU where the server belongs. The behavior is the expected one. I get in the secedit output the value set in active directory GPO in the OU. So, my question basically is... is this way the correct one of achieving my goal of getting dump in a plain text file the live settings of the policy applied to the virtual machine?. I can have only a local gpo or could have a local gpo (with default values or not) and later n number of gpo applied at different levels in active directory (site, domain, ou... etc...). So the real question is, my secedit command should give me what I'm trying to get and then to have live seetings in the machine (after all gpo at differrent levels are applied) ?. I have seen too that there is a flag /mergedpolicy but it seems to just output then those values that I have applied at local policy and too at active directory policy?. Am I wrong?. Best regards Thank you so much, London break (literally)Thu, 16 Apr 2026 15:13:29 +0000 Just got back from a 3-night break in London. Had a great time with my 2 girls doing all the touristy bits and catching a show.. although still sweat over a £8.35 pint of beer. Yesterday we decided to visit Hampton Ciurt without realising how long it would take from our boat stay in the docklands.. we went over tower bridge which was cool. My youngest got the pilot jelly cat from Harrods. My eldest spent ages in the huge Waterstones, and i came back with a broken pinky after thinking i could still throw my daughter in the air safely. I thought it was just bruised but Ive made a right mess and it needs wiring together. This message is a good test in how hard it's going to be to type as its my dominant hand. No driving either, so I need to thumb a lift.. that finger works ) SIMS - Report Help - AttendanceThu, 16 Apr 2026 14:50:36 +0000 Hello all I am looking to produce a report in SIMS which will give me an export of attendance data. Specifically, individual students' attendance per day per week 1 and week 2 as they want to see if there is a pattern for a particular day. I am not sure how to do this. WhatsApp business or similar (Invigilators/Exams)Thu, 16 Apr 2026 13:32:59 +0000 Is anyone running WhatsApp for school use? We're thinking for Invigilators, as they only have their own phones, no school device, and no staff email account or Microsoft licence. We've had a no phone policy implemented generally for staff, but also no non school accounts. It's making the Exam invigilator/regs almost unworkable.... SIMS - 44% price increase in one yearThu, 16 Apr 2026 11:51:38 +0000 Last year we paid in the region of £Xk+vat for all our sims modules. This year Parentpay have invented new packages, and moved modules into more than one so you are forced to purchase different packages to retain the same functionality. So Assessment is within 'Optimise' but Lesson Monitor is within 'Engage'. That's an extra approx £Yk please (total is now over approx £XYk). Obviously almost every school will be using at least those 2 core items. They are an unbelievable company. Can't believe there's not an outcry about this; God knows how they can do this - what are contracts for? DT EquipmentThu, 16 Apr 2026 11:24:47 +0000 Hi! Our school opened in 2020 and was fitted with all new equipment. As the school has grown the DT department have found which machinery works for them and which doesn't. They are looking to sell or trade in for more suitable equipment. Could anyone point me in the right direction of a company that might buy the equipment or any schools would be interested please get in touch with me as well. The equipment I have been told about it is: Optimum TU 3008G metal lathe - Optimum OPTIturn TU 3008G Guide and traction spindle lathes – Excel Machine Tools Optimum S 131GH metal band saw - Optimum OPTIsaw S 131GH Metal band saw – Excel Machine Tools Denford Turn CNC lathe (not sure on specific model) This machinery has only been used a maximum of once or twice as we don't done any metalwork. Office 365 not working through chrome.Thu, 16 Apr 2026 10:06:34 +0000 Since Chrome updated to 147.0.7727.102 we've had problems with the Office 365 webapps not loading in Chrome. Confused about “Microsoft Entra joined” and “Microsoft Entra hybrid joined” PCsThu, 16 Apr 2026 09:56:48 +0000 We currently use MDT to image devices which are then joined to our network and appear in Entra as Microsoft Entra hybrid joined. We can then use group policy to control them along with Intune where that’s a better (or the only) option. As MDT will soon go EOL I’ve been playing around with OSDCloud as a way to image devices, I’ve set it so it also enrols using AutoPilot during the process, with the devices then automatically added to AD in a separate OU that I’ve called “Intune Hybrid”. The test devices appear in Entra as “Microsoft Entra joined” (not hybrid) – is this because of AutoPilot? What are the implications if I then move the PC in AD to its correct OU? We have no plans to ditch our on-prem servers at the moment but am looking to embrace some additional cloud resources such as making more use of Intune and Windows Update for Business (WUfB) Locker - Creating sync'd class Teams with templateWed, 15 Apr 2026 13:51:46 +0000 Hi all, We're migrating Google ---> M365 for students this year. I've purchased Locker to do the sync from our MIS and create the Teams. Before I initiate the first sync, can anyone tell me if it is possible to create a class Team from a template with a customised home page? I want to template the home page layout, banner, assign teacher name in the web part, team calendar and a couple of other web parts. E.g. the aim is to reduce the teachers effort in customising the home page for every team they own. How do you guys and gals do it ? Cheers in advance Food Menu SystemWed, 15 Apr 2026 13:47:50 +0000 Very random request. We have a three weekly menu that we display on our digital signage system and on the website. Currently the kitchen manager types up the menu, it goes to the marketing person to put in a template, then comes to us to convert into PDFs to upload to various places. Then of course something changes and we have to go through the whole thing again. What I would like is a web-based system that the kitchen manager can enter the weeks menu and then a UI that will pull out todays (or tomorrows, or a specific date) menu and display it in a pre-formatted method. This would allow any changes to be added by the kitchen manager and be live instantly, means the marketing person just has to design the template and the info will be slotted in, and we don't have to do anything at all! It would also mean other systems could reference it without any major faff. Before I try and cobble something together and reinvent the wheel, does anyone know of a system that does anything like this? TIA SCCM fail to deploy April CUWed, 15 Apr 2026 12:07:58 +0000 Anyone else used SCCM to deploy April 2026 updates?
